For decades, Alan has been one of Northeastern Pennsylvania music’s most important storytellers and advocates.

Through journalism, radio, live events and his long-running Music On The Menu work, Alan has spent his career documenting music while giving local artists a platform to be discovered and remembered. His career has also included interviews with some of the biggest names in rock and popular music.

Long before social media made it easy for local artists to reach an audience, Alan was helping NEPA musicians tell their stories, promote their work and become part of the region’s musical history.

As a founding member, songwriter and driving creative force behind The Badlees, Bret Alexander helped take a Pennsylvania rock band from the regional music scene to national success.

The Badlees released acclaimed music, earned major-label recognition and shared stages with some of rock’s most recognizable artists.

Bret’s influence extends well beyond his own performances. As a songwriter, producer and recording engineer, he has helped develop and record countless other artists through Saturation Acres Recording Studio.

Few people have had a greater impact on both the sound and development of original music in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

George Wesley was more than a musician. He was one of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s great musical ambassadors.

Over a career spanning more than four decades, George helped make reggae an important part of the region’s musical identity while building an audience that extended far beyond Pennsylvania.

He released numerous albums, performed thousands of shows and shared stages with legendary artists including The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Santana and the Jerry Garcia Band.

His music, personality and unmistakable spirit influenced generations of musicians and fans, and his impact continues to be felt throughout the NEPA music community.

Formed in Nanticoke in 1997, Strength for a Reason became one of the defining bands of Pennsylvania hardcore.

The band took Northeastern Pennsylvania hardcore far beyond the region, touring throughout the United States and internationally while building a dedicated following and releasing a catalog that helped establish NEPA as part of the larger hardcore community.

Their longevity, loyalty to their roots and uncompromising approach to their music made Strength for a Reason one of the region’s most respected heavy bands.

For decades, Joseph “Wiggy” Wegleski has helped shape the actual sound of Northeastern Pennsylvania music.

As an engineer at SI Studios, producer, composer, guitarist, teacher and performer, Wiggy has worked with generations of musicians both onstage and behind the scenes.

His work with bands including Vicious, Jugdish and Jigsaw Johnny made him a familiar face to local music fans, while countless musicians have relied on his experience in the studio to turn their songs and ideas into finished recordings.

His contributions represent exactly what the Lifetime Achievement Award was created to celebrate.

The Glass Prism didn’t simply make Northeastern Pennsylvania music history. They became part of American rock history.

The Scranton-area band signed with RCA Records in 1969, becoming one of the earliest NEPA rock bands to earn a major-label record deal.

Their landmark album Poe Through the Glass Prism transformed the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe into psychedelic rock and brought national attention to a group that began right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Decades later, The Glass Prism remains one of the most historically significant bands to emerge from the region.

Carl Canedy built a career in heavy metal that stretches from Northeastern Pennsylvania to stages and recording studios around the world.

As drummer for The Rods, Carl performed alongside some of the most important names in hard rock and heavy metal.

His influence became even greater behind the recording console. As a producer, Carl worked with influential metal artists including Anthrax, Overkill, Exciter and Possessed, helping shape recordings that became part of heavy metal history.

From Carbondale to the international metal scene, Carl Canedy has spent decades proving that world-class music can come directly from NEPA.

Few bands are woven into Scranton’s musical history quite like Old Friends.

Formed by musicians who had grown up together, the group developed a roots-driven sound and became a beloved part of the regional live music scene.

Over the years, their reunion performances grew into traditions of their own, drawing generations of fans together to celebrate the music, friendships and community that made the band special in the first place.

Old Friends represents something rare in music: a band capable of becoming part of the culture and identity of the community around it.

Tom LeFevre’s impact on the regional music community goes far beyond selling records.

Since opening Main Street Jukebox in Stroudsburg in 1994, Tom has created a gathering place for musicians, collectors, artists and passionate music fans.

Independent record stores have long played an important role in developing music communities, and Main Street Jukebox became one of the region’s most recognizable examples.

Even after a devastating fire in 2006, Tom rebuilt and continued supporting the music and people he loved.

For generations of Poconos music fans, Main Street Jukebox has been more than a store. It has been part of their musical lives.

For more than three decades, Eddie Appnel has been one of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s most respected original singer-songwriters.

As the creative voice behind Mere Mortals, Eddie helped build one of the region’s most enduring original bands through thoughtful songwriting, memorable performances and a commitment to creating original music.

His work has become part of the larger story of NEPA’s singer-songwriter and rock communities.

Eddie represents the kind of musician who does more than participate in a local music scene. He helps define its sound and character.

For approximately 45 years, Rocky Rhodes was one of the most recognizable voices in Northeastern Pennsylvania radio.

His career included an incredible 35 years at 98.5 KRZ, where his personality, humor and connection with listeners made him part of the daily routine for generations throughout NEPA.

Radio personalities can play an enormous role in connecting listeners with music, artists, concerts and popular culture, and few broadcasters became as closely associated with Northeastern Pennsylvania as Rocky Rhodes.

His career wasn’t simply spent broadcasting to NEPA. He became part of NEPA.

Some of the most important people in music never stand at center stage.

For more than four decades, John “Stu” Sanderson was one of the people who helped make Northeastern Pennsylvania’s live music scene possible.

Working behind the soundboard, Stu helped countless musicians, bands and venues deliver the performances audiences came to see. His technical ability, dedication and professionalism earned the respect of generations of people throughout the NEPA music community.

Following his passing in 2025, the Steamtown Music Awards honored Stu posthumously with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

It was a recognition of an unsung hero whose influence can be heard in decades of live music throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
